Orchids have been one of my favorite flowers as long as I can remember. They come in many different colors and varieties and I'm always amazed by their beauty. Symbolizing love, they are considered to be a Feng Shui flower that brings good luck. Fragile and delicate, yet strong, they bloom for quite a while, from a few weeks to a few months, and that is a beautiful gift since I paint them with the real flower in front of me. (So yes, my home is filled with orchids, and there is always room for one more...)
Because of their delicate nature, watercolor is the ideal medium for me to portray them in detail.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Her love for detail is reflected in her work, whether they are botanicals, pet portraits or whimsical fairytales.
"Creativity shows in all aspects of life, in your home, at your work, in your relationship with people...I was encouraged by my parents from a very young age to express myself through art and I love it when my work actively engages someone's imagination, inspiring them to make their own art."
Together with her husband, Michael Belajonas, she opened the "Mirabela Studio of Music and Art" in Port Jefferson, N.Y. where he teaches music and she teaches art to children and adults. Lessons are one on one and specifically geard to each individual.
